Privacy Policy.

àlex is built on a principle of restraint. We collect only what's needed to help you stay close to the people you already love — nothing more, and we never sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID's associated email (which may be a private relay address) and a unique identifier for your account. We don't have access to your Apple password or other Apple account details.

Profile information you provide. Your display name, city, and any preferences you choose to share during setup (interests, favourite season, and similar taste signals) — used to make suggestions more relevant to you.

Mood check-ins. When you log how you're feeling, that entry is stored so you can see your own history over time. It's private to you by default.

Circle and connection data. Information you enter about the people in your Circle — names, relationships, birthdays, notes — is private to you and is never visible to the people you've added, unless and until they join àlex and you connect with them through an explicit, mutual invite. If someone you know joins àlex and accepts a connection from you, the two of you can then see limited signals about each other (such as availability status) — never your private notes about them.

Location. With your permission, àlex uses your approximate city to tailor local experience and place suggestions. We do not track or store precise location history, and location is never sold or shared with third parties.

Drops and shared content. Links or content you send to a connected friend within àlex are stored so they can view them, and are visible only to the sender and the intended recipient.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not share your data with advertisers.
• We do not build public profiles or make any of your information searchable by other users.
• We do not show your Circle, your notes about the people in it, or your mood history to anyone but you, unless you've explicitly connected with someone through a mutual invite.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, via our infrastructure provider (Supabase). Row-level security policies ensure that, at the database level, you can only access your own data.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and all associated data at any time. In-app, you can permanently delete your account and all data via Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. If you're in the UK or EU, you have rights under GDPR including access, correction, deletion, and portability of your data.
